Tony Buckner Benefit

On Wednesday, July 7, 2010 our friend Anthoney “Tony” Buckner had an accident that left him with a fractured skull, a concussion, a fractured humerus, a partially punctured lung and assorted bumps, bruises, and stitches. Considering his vehicle went off the side of the road, and fell almost 500 feet before landing in Mineral Creek, it is amazing that he is still with us today. It took the medical response team several hours to get to Tony, remove him from the vehicle, lift him to the road, and transport him via helicopter to a nearby hospital. A witness reported that a car was driving towards Tony, in the wrong lane, and that Tony swerved to avoid a collision. Slippery rain soaked roads caused Tony to lose control and drive off of Red Mountain Pass.

The good news is Tony is alive and well. The bad news is Tony does not have health insurance. Tony needs our help! He spent several days in a hospital in Durango and expects enormous medical bills. He has, and will continue to have, follow-up appointments until he has fully recovered. He is not permitted to go back to work until the doctor clears his head and arm injuries. He does not have sick leave pay while he is healing.

How to help:

  • We have set up a PayPal account (gibbyoxley at gmail.com) so that you can send donations, using the button below. All we are asking for is a few bucks — the cost of a cup of coffee at your favorite local coffee shop. A few bucks, or even a single buck, from Tony’s friends, will go a long way towards helping him pay off the mounting medical bills.

If you know Tony, he is not one to ask for help. But due to these extraordinary circumstances he is grateful for the help. Any amount of support greatly helps. Thank you!
